Hey, Mister, That’s Me Up On The iPhone…
Somehow, one of St Petersburg artist Caleb’s paintings ended up on a fine Apple iPhone application. This is a rendering of the St John’s Bridge which crosses the Willamette River on the north end of Portland, Oregon. In the future, everyone will be iPhone-famous for 15 minutes.
Caleb- for rendering so true, it’s used on navigational devices.
St Petersburg Landmark From Caleb
The 80 year old St Petersburg Florida hot dog stand Coney Island Grill is the subject of a new acrylic painting on watercolor paper. It measures 30×22 and, like most of Caleb’s recent subtropical southern subjects, has a pastel-ish feel, partially due to the marble flour he mixes into his paint. This gives the paint a matte, dry-brushed look that recalls pastel chalk work.
This painting is currently available for viewing at Interior Motives Gallery at 1110 Central Avenue in downtown St Petersburg, Florida. Caleb has sold several views of this local landmark at Interior Motives, and gallery owner Leslie Curran says she has no problem finding them homes.

New Paintings From Caleb
Painting, as usual, in public at the Interior Motives gallery in St Petersburg, in real time and without a net, Caleb completes two more paintings set in Crescent Lake Park, St Pete. The overwhelming feeling presented is one of heat and mystery, said one onlooker, which sounds about right. These two paintings are 36×36 on stretched canvas, and, unlike the last Crescent paintings, these are not commissioned work and hence are available for purchase.
Caleb Completes Crescent Lake Commission For Tampa Collector
St Petersburg Florida artist Caleb has finished, and in a timely manner, another view of St Pete’s Crescent lake, this time looking west across the lake just after sunset. This is a 48 inch square canvas, and is reminiscent of his work from the nineties, when he favored large and frequently equilateral pieces. He is currently at work on two similar 36 inch square canvases which, by contrast, are being done on spec and will be available for purchase when complete.
“Art For A Cure” Tampa Wrap-Up
Art for a Cure, an event which featured Caleb, Carolina Cleere, Lori Ballard, Emily Page, Jack Breit, Donna Morrison, Rick Reeves, Jason Fondren and others was well attended and profitable for several of the artists, as well as the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, to which a portion of the proceeds were donated. James Cournoyer of Seven North took a bunch of photos, a few of which appear below.
Many thanks to everyone who help donated their time and hard work to make this happen for the children of this great charity.
Thanks to Megan Voeller of Artsqueeze, for providing high-profile notification for the event.
