The Art Basel Show wrapped up a four-day extravaganza of fine art from around the world and it was a total success, breaking in a booming $165 million in sales.
What is the Art Basel show?
Well, it's a platform that brings the whole art world together, it has 290 of the world's most established and upcoming galleries showing the works of over 4,000 artists.
The Basel show originated back in 1970. In the early 80's the founder of Seven North Art, James Cournoyer, purchased much of his early inventory and to this day we still offer European works. Because of this show as well as 30 years of attending and showing our exclusive artist in New York, Los Angela's, Chicago, Miami, and Atlanta, Seven North has established long-term relationships and agreements around the world. Seven Norths art investment division still works with many galleries and artists that show at Art Basel.
There’s a full program of "artworld talks" that take place each day. Exhibitions and events are also offered by cultural institutions in Basel and the surrounding area, creating an exciting, region-wide art week.
This year Art Basel started in Switzerland. The Basel name has become the ultimate art fair vendors with an expanding slate of programs around the world, a steady flow of new content year round, and an impressive social media presence. This year’s edition had 290 galleries from 35 countries, and 16 galleries are making their Basel debut, including White Space Beijing, LA’s Freedman Fitzpatrick, and New York’s Essex Street Gallery.
The Basel show here in America is held at the Miami Beach Convention Center December 6-9, 2018, features upcoming galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa showing amazing works of Modern and contemporary art. Go give it a look, it will be worth it!
