A Pop Icon and Psychedelic painter is a brilliant artist and became famous when he was very young. His parents moved many times around the world so young Peter Max experienced many diverse cultures including Africa, Europe, Tibet and Paris France where he was a teenager and took sketch at the Louve. Around seventeen years of age, he was living in New York where he attended the Pratt Institute School of Art in Manhattan.
Max was always interested in graphic design and even had a design studio for a short time. In the mid-sixties, he started delving toward neo-expressionism and became one of the first to be coined a Pop artist. His career Exploded and Max became an original part of American culture in a matter of a few years.
He was everywhere on National television shows Ed Sullivan, Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and on the cover of Life Magazine all in the 60's. In 1967 Art Critics around the world were saying "Peter Max is the Visual counterpart to the music of the Beatles"
