Halsey Peterson

Halsey Peterson began painting at age nine in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, an historic harbor town settled in 1675. His ancestry is of Danish sea farers, which has had an influence in his love of the sea. Halsey also had a professional career in executive sales for an international braided rope company, Samson Ocean Systems Inc., where he serviced the heavy marine and other markets with high quality products.

Primarily a self taught artist, he did have special classes of critical study and has had a busy life satisfying numerous commissions, as well as teaching painting privately and in class. A widely diverse artist, he paints virtually all subject matter. Halsey is poetically minded and is basically a romantic realist, but finds his artistic approach expressed in impressionistic style as well. The particular subject at hand will influence his manner of `speaking' and the applied technique to best convey his thoughts.

Halsey is highly skilled as well in the restoration and repair of art work et al and enjoys this work with the challenges that each project brings as well as the satisfaction of the resulting successes.

Peterson's work has been included in numerous gallery exhibitions and he is listed in the Who's Who for the Perth Amboy Tri Centennial edition. He is a member of the International Society of Marine Painters and is listed in the Florida Artists, IV edition. He also has a painting in "A Gallery of Marine Art" published by Rockport Publishing Company. His works are displayed here and abroad, in both private and corporate collections.
